How long do you think the life of a Mac Mini is which is 2011 model?

Mine has had four good years and is running the current OS X 10.11 with the ability to run Windows 10 as well.

Considering 10.11 runs on the early 2009 version I would hope we have at least two more years of software support. Even if not the only limitation would be what applications you run as you don't have to upgrade.

Hardware wise the disk will probably die first. So assuming you replace with a SSD and upgrade to 16GB RAM the 2011 mini should see another 5 years.

All that being said I will most likely buy the next mini that comes out and delegate this one to replace my 2009. I see that eBay shows 2007 models trending around $100. This shows that you really get your money's worth with Apple products.

With 8gb RAM and a 500 GB SSD in my 2009 mini, i figure it has at least five more years. Smile

Have you ever considered getting a UPS? Could be worth the cost for the benefit it gives to allow proper shutdown should electrical be unpredictable.
