Anyone got one of the Retina iMac's and what are your thoughts ?

My iMac's getting to the point where I'm starting to consider an upgrade. I would probably have just bought a standard 27" iMac if the retina iMac wasn't around, but given that there is a retina iMac, its now put me off the standard one.

Given my history with dodgy macs I'm very reluctant to punt any more money Apple's way, especially on a first generation offering. My issues with my current Macbook Pro and iMac have all been graphics related. The iMac has had an annoying bug since the 10.6.3 update and the issues are still there even now with Yosemite. I'm still on Mavericks though as I've gotten fed up having to continually patch back in the 10.6.2 video drivers every time I update. Apple's reluctance to issue a software fix in the last 3 or 4 years is whats caused my reluctance to buy Apple Sad

My questions on the Retina iMac are mainly to do with the processing power and graphics performance, is the retina iMac powerful enough to really drive all those pixels or would it be best waiting for the next generation ? I'm also not a fan of having no user upgradable parts. Hard Drives fail, I've had to change both my iMac and Mac Mini's drives due to failure's, so having a sealed iMac really puts me off upgrading.

I'm certainly not going to return to windows, so at some point I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy another Mac, all be very reluctantly.

I would buy a nice Mac Mini and a Samsung monitor for a lot less money. Just like I did.
