I set up my Seagate 500G--on my Mini --ran Time machine --and everything went well but when i tried to look at the files in Time machine -- i can't open any of them

how can i see what is in my Time machine copy

you cant time machine backs everything up to a single file that only time machine can read you cant just view it like copying a file to a external

right but he wanted to see physical files not the single time machine file

Once you've entered Time Machine you can view any file or folder from the finder window for any time period listed.
How simple is that?
