What is the reason for not supporting the older OS ?

If people still like them - why get rid of them ?

I'd say there are several reasons, Apple are just like all other companies in that they would always prefer you to buy the latest software / hardware, it brings in more dollars to their bank accounts. This isn't just related to computers; car manufacturers, white goods, carpets, clothing, you name it, they all bring out new models and ranges to lure us in to parting with our cash.

It also takes a lot of resources to keep the older OSes running, why should Apple employ lots of additional staff just to keep patching the old systems, they would much rather have those people working on the latest system. This goes for programmers writing the code and also the tech support staff dealing with enquires and issues from users. Supporting multiple OS's costs them money.

Apple should follow their consumers. I agree with you.

Yep I agree, why don't they still support SL. I read 1 in 5 Macs are still running SL. Windows just dumped XP, that was 15 years ago..
