OP here. Six months since I got my new 2.3 GHz Core i7 Mini, it's still running fine and doing so fully loaded 24/7. No doubt that its hard drive will fry in a year or two, just as have had drives from two prior Mini boxes.

If I could do it over, I'd have gotten a Mini with the 2.6 GHz Core i7 upgrade.

Given the record-long delay with Apple delivering a new Mini model, I'm starting to think that we might never see a new version of Apple's red-headed stepchild. And if one does appear, no doubt that the FireWire and audio input ports will have been moved into Adapter Twilight Zone. Maybe you might want to get the latest model while you still can.

I don't follow you.

There's nothing in that link that suggests a release is imminent, unless I'm missing something.

The good news is that since its taken so long to release a new mini - chances are good its going to be an entirely new design. Perhaps similar to the new mac pros.

Even if its not, I love all the incarnations of the mini

Well he only has a couple of weeks but I think that Mid 2014 window has passed, Oct onwards would have to be Late 2014 and Sept should really be Late 2014.

I would say it should be
Early (Jan -Apr)
Mid (May - Aug)
Late (Sept Dec)

After doing a bit of research it seems as though the Mavericks OS has not worked very well with a lot of Mac Mini computers. In light of this, it is possible that if Yosemite is more stable with the Mini you will see a new Mini arrive next year. If not, then I would say it is going to be discontinued and Apple is going to try to drive people into the entry level Laptops and Notebooks or iPads.

That looks like a general badly researched piece of junk of an article.

There is also no doubt that it will run on the latest Mavericks and be as secure as possible. It was suggested that it would also arrive with all the usual features and software.

Surely it would be shipped with Yosemite, as by November 20th that will be live.
