Hi,

There seems to be no provision in TextEdit to do a word count, yet I vaguely remember doing it via an applescript (which I cannot find again...)

I would be happy if anyone else knew of such a script or of another way to do a word count (without copy-paste to Word)

Intel Mini, Snow leopard.

Thanks JB, that's exactly the script I was looking for. Much obliged.

Glad I could help.. although
I have to wonder why folks ask these questions on forums, when the same question typed into Google comes up with instant solutions.
In fact I'm convinced that a lot of the questions answered on these forums are the result of someone else doing a Google search and then posting the results.

After reading tour last post I still gave Google a try and I didn't find a word count script: I found 5 of them plus a small app. that does the same thing!

Thank you, jb, for reminding me of the ubiquitous Google. Next time I will only ask a forum what I cannot find in Google.
