I'm wondering if TM can, perhaps with the aid of TimeMachineScheduler, 'deal with' two different (time) schedules, let's say:
* automatically (thus hourly) to a fast card reader with a fast card
* weekly (thus manually) to an external self-powered HDD
The reason why I'm asking is that, given the (at times) unreliable power supply where I live, our 2 macminis + their monitors are powered through an UPS and having 2 additional external HDDs with a TM partition would mean 2 more pieces of equipment permanently powered through the UPS (which has a limited capacity).
Rather than buying new/additional USB-powered ext HDDs I was thinking a 64 GB SDXC card would suffice for a week's worth of TM (given an initial full backup of 30-35 GB of my internal HDD).
But the/my question is if I run TM automatically (hourly) with the SDXC card connected and once a week manually with the SDXC card disconnected and the ext HDD connected whether TM 'knows/recognizes' that it should back up a week's worth of incrementals (and not just an hour)?
Or should I do one of the two processes (automatic hourly and manual weekly) do with TM and the other with some other software?
Any advice/experience much appreciated!
