Did you do an upgrade or a clean install.

This might not be your problem but I occasionally use a wireless keyboard, I normally use wired its less hassle with batteries etc. However when I did try to installing it on my iMac it complained that it was already paired on another computer. I had to set it back up on the other computer and unpair it before reinstalling on the new one.

Is yours a pairing problem or just its not being found ?

This was a common bug in maverick the way to fix it is stupid turn off your bluetooth turn back on your bluetooth then have it go into connect mode on the keyboard then select sync under the bluetooth menu on your desktop and it will then ask you for the pairing code usually 1234 or 0000
