I'm back up and running again, I did a clean install so all elements of Lion and Snow are gone, not sure it makes any difference or not though. Time Machine backup has been good, few small items that weren't backed up but I salvaged them from the old HD. Decided to start putting some money aside for a new iMac though.

I just traded in my late 2012 iMac at work. I have the money set aside for a new one already. I doubt it will be a big upgrade, but it's always cool to have the latest and greatest.

I made about $75 on my 2012 model. Bought for $1000, sold for $1075. I sold my 2007 mini for $225, so I'm in good shape (If I go for a base model).

You will also have the latest and greatest in software with Mavericks. Smile

It would be really cool for the next iMac to have a retina screen, but I don't think it's going to happen just yet.

I don't think iMacs will get Retina either, but I guess from the ground up,they will be optimized for Mavericks. This is a bit of a big deal if you are moving forward from the Snow Leopard and prior era. Up until now, Lion and ML have been performance hits. Moving forward it will be nice to see better performance instead of worse performance with updates, like we were used to in the past.

Im on my forth iMac. the 27" I'm on now had a HD replacement.
The sad thing is when a iMac goes, it takes a good display with it.

Sad Mines the same its sat there at the end of my desk looking pretty.

Its a perfectly good monitor thats now looks more like a sexy dark mirror than anything else. I still connect to it over the network from time to time to get files etc but if i try to use it the graphics bug causes it to freeze. Loosing the iMac was bad enough but I then ended up having to buy another 24" monitor to stick on the Mac Mini when I had to switch back to using that. Luckily I had the mini as a backup computer.
