According to Apple , it looks like it's about 11 W at idle, 85W max

I notice "Idle" means doing nothing much at the desktop (Finder open).

I wonder why Apple don't publish the power consumption when asleep (powerlight pulsating)? Didn't someone here measure it recently?

It wasn't that model but I wouldn't think it would be far different from my results

Quote:
Mac Mini Data
2010 model 2.53 Ghz Core2 Duo

Off 0W
Boot up approx 20W peaked at 34W
Sat at login window 17-20W
logging in as programs starting up - 28-34W peaked at 35W
After login with no HDD activity - 20-22W
Same HD Video in Plex - 27W
Started iTunes - peaked 39W (video playing in background)
Music playing and Video - 30W

Sleep 1-2W

To summarise I'd say

Off but still plugged in = 0W
Sleep = 1-2W
Idling = 21W
Normal uses 25-30W
Peak Use - 39W although I didn't really push the CPU

the full thread is here

close enough. I can tell you the max on the 6630 gpu model

is about 46 watts.

this is maxing the cpu and the gpu.

not all the ports.

each usb can pull 2-3 watts so that gets you to 54-58 watts.

the fw800 can pull 9-11 watts so the is 63-69 watts.

the t-bolt can pull 8-10 watts .

that gets you to 71-79 watts.

hdmi can pull 2-3 watts that is 73-82 watts. fan pulls 1-1.5 watts.

so you are at 74-83.5 watts.

your blu-tooth uses power

your wired ethernet uses power

the psu is rated for 85 watts .

I have have stressed test the 2011 min to about 70 watts DO NOT DO IT!

TRY keeping it under 50 watts. most people keep it under 40 watts.
