For years, I've been posting some small, private sites using Apple's iWeb (part of the iLife suite of consumer-grade applications).

Now, I'm thinking about what happens if the other shoe drops and Apple's iWeb fades into history. (It hasn't been updated since 2009.) I also want to experiement with Muse to see if it is for me. Lynda.com has some really interesting Muse tutorials (including one on "Designing a Portfolio Website with Muse"). I was thinking about setting up a portfolio-like web-site, possibly with a personal blog on the front-end, as an experiement.

Is Muse available for a free trial download to try out? If so, what are the terms and conditions?

Is Muse ready now to replace iWeb if the need arises?

One of the reasons I'm looking at Muse is that I may apply for a desktop publishing job on a university campus which requires some occasional web-page publishing in addition to newesletter layout and other publications. I was thinking that getting my hands dirty with Muse setting up a protfolio site might be the ticket.

MY HARDWARE:

MY SOFTWARE:

MacOS 10.8 "Mountain Lion", Microsoft Office 2011:Mac, Adobe Creative Suite 1 (running on a 2003-vintage G4 iMac), Adobe Photoshop Elements 8, Apple iLife 2011, etc.

Muse does have a trial. Click this link to visit the download page. Or, go to this page for all product trials.

If you have an old .edu email address you can get student pricing of $30 per month on their Creative Clouid subscription that gives you every application they have.
