Mac Mini 2011 to Dell u2713hm displayport issue

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum but have been a Mini owner for a while. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for my problem.

I just purchased a dell 27 inch u2713hm and have it hooked up to the mini with a mini dp to dp cable and whenever the mac restarts, the screen goes black on the reboot and in order to fix it I have to power cycle the monitor or unplug the mini dp cable and replug it. The mini does reboot and there is power but the screen stays black. None of the buttons on the monitor will work in this state, other than the power button.

Now I also have a pc and I tried using the dp from the pc to the monitor and it works without issue. I also have tried another Macbook, works good. I also installed Win 7 on the mac mini and even that worked without issue!

I'm assuming there's something about this mac mini combined with osx that locks the monitor screen on reboot. This problem does not occur from sleep or on a cold boot, only a restart. The problem also does not occur when hooked up to dvi, only dp.

I have tried 3 different cables and they all have this issue when hooked to the dp of the monitor. I tried resetting the NVram? That didn't work.

It's really frustrating figuring this out. Any suggestions would be great.

One more thing, the mini has been upgraded with a crucial ssd and crucial 8gb ram. It is an intel dual core model.

it's not your monitor repower up the mac mini let me explain if you press the power button the mac mini to fast you will get a dong but no display because the mini didn't receive power to the graphics card it happens a lot on the 2011 mac minis i have one i have to turn off the mini and repower up the mini to get a display signal its not the mini is going out because i asked the apple guy at the apple store and he said its common when you hit the power switch you can hit it and it will enter sleep mode
