It seems like some of this hacking out of China is becoming very serious. As are the exploits in Java. Color me having it disabled. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

It's the java plugin for the browser that has the issue, not java itself. The plugin can be disabled separately.

Could you elaborate? Cause to be honest, I'm sort of confused by the entire thing. |

You can have Java programs or applets that will use the Java runtime to run on your computer like any other program. Java also offers a plugin for browsers that allows a web page to download and start a java applet. The java plugin is supposed to have security controls in it that only allow the applet limited and necessary access to your machine. This is where the current release of the Java plugin has failed miserably. |

Okay, got it. I thought that was the main thrust of the issues, but it was still a little confusing. |

| It's starting to crazy out there. NBC.com was hacked today and visitors are being warned about visiting the site and getting malware that compromises your passwords. I mean, it's just time to disable Java from your browser. Oracle needs to get their sh*t together. |
