"Restore windows" - more bug than feature

The "restore windows" feature is driving me up the wall, because disabling it seems impossible.

I have gone into the General Pane and unsuccessfully disabled "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening applications."

I have downloaded Tinkertool and used the appropriate setting to disable the "restore windows" feature for my browsers. This worked once, but has since failed.

Now I have read about a workaround that involves locking a Safari file in the Library as a remedy, but it is ridiculous that I should have to do that.

Since System Preferences has a "restore windows" option, but since it's not working, is this whole issue a Lion bug?

I believe so. I mean, it never worked right for me in Lion. I have no problems for whatever reason in Mountain Lion though. Perhaps it's just time to upgrade if you can. I think it's well worth it for the overall bug fixes and feature set.

you need Lion tweaks look it up on google its free and will disable that feature and add some good features that you can use as well

there is another tweak app as well you can use in conjunction with this program but i havent looked for it i think tis called tweakgui
