Can anyone help - I would like to install Windows 8 on my mac mini (only to run a work CAD package) - I am willing to buy a Windows 8 disk and can buy a Windows 8 OEM edition here in the UK - I understand that its technically for system builders - are there any issues with installing Win 8 OEM using boot camp (or virtual box) - also could I run XP using virtual box and get the USB ports to work ?

Ta in advance

no actually you can use a oem copy the differrence is the key that is on the windows 8 disk can only be used on that disk thats the only differrence also make sure its not a pirated copy because windows 8 dials home and it will disable your o.s.

for drivers just use the windows 7 drivers boot camp offers you will be just fine.

Thanks for the info - the OEM is good deal cheaper than the retail version - will go ahead and order one

The issue of OEM vs Standard only takes effect at the point you activate Windows. The OEM key locks you down to that particular hardware config.

I suggest delaying activation until you have the setup working. There is usually a couple of weeks grace period on new installs before activation is required.

Have taken the virtualbox route - all is running ok and Windows is activated ok (with the exception of being unable to force virtual box to allow me to run at 1920x1200)
