I like the audio streaming feature. I wonder why it's only stereo though. Airport Express supports optical 5.1 audio out.
Still this is a nice feature for for people. You could essential see no wires on just about any TV setup and still get big sound from an external source.
A set of Audioengine A5+ and an Airport Express and you could shake any room in the house for $400. |

I could be wrong, but I don't think Airplay supports 5.1 surround sound.
It's still a cool feature though. You can use powered (with an Airport Express) or Airplay enabled speakers anywhere.
They add in apps to the mix and I might come back from using Roku boxes. That being said, they are really working out beautifully with Plex. |

I would like to see Apple boost up the available content, add applications, and unlock that worthless USB port on the back for external storage. Those things would probably get me more excited about the product. _________________ 2011 Mac mini with 8GB of RAM

I found the USB port to be rather useful on my Apple TV 2 |

Awesome! Just imagine how easy it would be for Apple to enable the same functionality.
Can those same hacks be done with the 3rd generation Apple TV? I don't follow hacks and stuff surrounding the Apple TV. _________________ 2011 Mac mini with 8GB of RAM

No not yet for Apple TV 3. It may never come with the laws regarding Jailbreaking changing.
On another interesting note. I live in Canada but I can access US Netflix. It takes about 30 seconds to set up on an Apple TV 2 or 3. No Jailbreak necessary. |

I wonder why that hasn't happened? Perhaps a lack of interest in the device or a limited market? Maybe it's just a really challenging jailbreak, but it sort of seems like the iPhone hacking crowd would be able to accomplish such a task. I sort of doubt that those new laws have anything to do with it. _________________ 2011 Mac mini with 8GB of RAM
