Hi Bandit Bill,
I'm not suggesting you MUST share.
I use Jing for many things and simply
use it when I want to share and image.
Jing makes it really simple. You could
use Jing to capture and Image and then
upload it to whatever site (or not) that
you wish. Jing makes it easy to capture
and annotate and image but the sharing
part is your decision. The thing that has
been attractive to me about Jing is how
intuitive its been. I've honestly never read
anything on how to use it but its been easy
to figure out how to annotate my images
and upload them. Its very Mac like in that
respect.

Did I mention its free?

Yup, I downloaded it. That's how I posted that image. It was easy to set-up and share the image. Perfect. Thanks.

I've been using Skitch for years on a daily basis. I often use Skitch multiple times per day. I love the app. It appears to be much better than Jing as far as the capture interface and editing are concerned. I never need to post/share the images that I capture at work.

Skitch used to be good when you could post to the Skitch site. Now that Evernote has taken over, I'm not even going to consider setting things up with their site. When I installed Evenote on my Mac in the past it plagued it with crap that was difficult to uninstall even after using their uninstaller. Emails/spam you name it. Horrible company.

Thanks Bandit Bill,

I had downloaded Skitch when it first became available because
of the good buzz but sadly never ended up using it. I liked Jing
so much I was afraid it would be scooped up by a bigger company
and wanted a backup to Jing. It looks like its been the other way
round.

Btw, I use Flickr Uploadr to upload all of my Images to Flickr. Its
also very intuitive and doesn't require any reading to figure out
how to upload your images. Its also free, you might give it a try
if you have a Flickr account. It works fine with Mountain Lion even
though its only for 10.4 or 10/5.
