On the Mac mini 2012, can the last link in a daisychain be a non-Thunderbolt display, connected by a miniDisplay port adaptor? I have in mind Mac mini <---> external SSD <---> Apple cinema display 30" (using a dual-link adaptor which takes its input from a miniDisplay port and one USB slot).

I know you can plug a miniDisplay port adaptor right into the Mac mini's thunderbolt port, but does it work plugged into the second thunderbolt port of a daisychained thunderbolt device??

If someone could try this and let me know I'd be very grateful.

Take a look at this from Apple, #19. It doesn't specifically cover 30" ACD, but it appears as long as you have a MiniDisplay Port device hooked at the end of the chain it should be ok.

Yeah, I think you should be okay at the end of the chain.

Yes, this is how it was designed to operate.
