Apparerntly you can, with the same iPod Linux. Albeit, being sorta choppy.

I wouldnt really want to install linux on my ipod anyway. And I really dont see it being worth it for video becuase on every demenstration i have seen the video has been very choppy. It is kinda cool that someone was able to do it though. |

There are two videos up there, I think you are all getting confused. The video playback on the iPod Photo (The on with the fat kid and the pool) is the choppy one. The playback on the Nano looks fine to me. I think it is definitely worth the time and effort for the Nano.

I bet Apple could have released some sort of update to enable video if they really wanted to. I would imagine it would help them increase sales of TV shows and videos in the ITMS. The problem with buying an iPod is Apple never offers any new features after you buy one. They just want you to upgrade to the latest and greatest so they can make more money. It's like your model becomes obsolete and they don't want to be bothered. Think iPod Pequeno!
