|
|
| I'm sure this has been covered before, but what's the max unsupported memory for a 2009 Mac mini? Is it 8GB or 16GB before it actually starts doing some harm to performance. I just picked up a used one up on Craigslist a couple days ago. I kinda remember reading something about it a while back. |

Anyone? I am interested to know the max (un supported) memory for macmini 2009 as well. We know the officially supported max is 4gb http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4223
Edit: Someone confirmed running 8GB here:

I can confirm 8GB works OK, but I've never tried 16GB.

| Thanks for the info mooblie. I'm going to go with 8GB then. I might try selling this one and getting one of the new ones around Christmas though. These things just rock for VMs. |

2x4GB should work.
Note that you may first need to upgrade to the latest Mac Mini firmware if you have one of the early Mac Mini 2009 (mine is : MM31.00AD.B00 ; SMC : 1.35f1).
Making the Mac Mini recognize the 4GB SIMMs may also be a bit tricky : read Carl V. post which worked for me. |
