Apple TV Software Update 5.1 Released

Apple today released the Apple TV Software Update 5.1 for the second and third generation Apple TV. According to the company, this update contains the following new features and fixes:
- Accept invitations for Shared Photo Streams, browse photos and comments, and receive notifications of new content.
- Send audio content from Apple TV to AirPlay-enabled speakers and devices (including AirPort Express and other Apple TVs). Also includes the ability to require an onscreen code to use AirPlay with your Apple TV.
- Save multiple iTunes accounts and switch quickly between them.
- Search movie trailers. In the United States, see show times for local theaters.
- New Cascade, Shrinking Tiles, and Sliding Panels screen savers.
- Reorder icons on the second page by holding down the select button on the remote.
- SDH support for the deaf and hard-of-hearing as well as improvements to viewing and selecting subtitles.
- Support for setting up advanced network options using configuration profiles.
- Includes general performance and stability improvements.

| I'm liking this update not sure if its my internet connection that has gotten better or what, but Netflix seems to look better now. Happy happy joy joy. |

I like being able to switch between accounts. Why? My girlfriend has purchased way more stuff from iTunes.
I think Airplay performance has improved slightly too. At least when streaming my desktop over from a MacBook Air.
I just wish they would bring HBOGO and Spotify onto the Apple TV. I know people talk about bringing apps over all the time, but that's what I really want. Come on Apple! |
