Hi, I hope we have gimp users here who can provide some tips on x11 issue when gimp is run in ML 10.8
Since I have upgraded to ML from SL and my old gimp (2.6 for SL) asks to have X11, I went ahead to download/install XQuarz (which supposed to provide X11) and also update gimp to 2.8 (for L+). But now gimp refuse to open ... I suspect there is need to run XQuarz.app so to support gimp in ML. No idea how/what to run XQ app?
Would appreciate anybody's help. Tks |

| Thanks, Y-guy. The solution (from the other forum by your link) is quite simple: after install X11 and gimp2.8, restart mini ... all good! Now a new question if don't mind: when run gimp and X11, it always shows menu for x11, not gimp and I have no way to dig in gimp preference to make any change (right now 1st change needed: gimp window background color and font color. The default background color is dark grey and font color is light grey; it makes very difficult/painful for eyes to read.) Tks |

Their are two versions of Gimp for an
Intel Mac. Their is the Native version
which doesn't require X-11 being
installed and their is the X-11 Build
which requires X-11 to be installed.
You might want to try the Native version. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

Bill, Thanks for the info. Few days ago, I just downloaded/installed latest versions of gimp and x11 for ML. Every thing is fine and smooth: gimp preference is under "edit" and I can even change the font/size of menu. Enjoy it, gimp users.
Update: the new native version (2.8.2p3) is out and works well with ML with no need of x11 (2.8.2p1 and p2 do not work).
