Alright, so I had been thinking about getting a Mac Book Pro for awhile but then I talked to a friend and he told me about the Mac mini/HDTV combo and that really enticed me! I have friends that run their laptops to their big screens but I realized I don't even use laptops portability so I thought the Mac mini would be a great idea! Now, I had just gotten a little bit of grad money but not enough for the tv and the mini at the same time so I bought a tv first because I can use the tv until I get the mini with my first paycheck at my new job (tomorrow) and not the other way around. Anyway, I've done a lot of research on mini specs and things of that nature and the way it was explained to me was that you just get an hd tv and the mini connects right up.
As Im gearing up to buy the mini tomorrow I did a little more research randomly and am discovering that the mini has a lot of issues connecting with JVC tvs for some reason (wrf?! Lame!!).
As far as purpose goes I want to play music from mini through the tv, dl hd movies on mini and play on tv, as well as word processing and all the other kinds of things computers are used for.
I heard dvi to hdmi alleviates screen issues but no sound through that (must have sound!), then dvi to VGA Has display issues and I'm not sure if I'll get an GD display through that anyway? As I understand these are 2 options but I really have to have sound and really really want an GD display (why else would I have gotten the tv??)
I'm quite invested in the mini/tv combo and want it to work out badly!
I'm planning on getting the 2011 base mini with 8gb of ram I'll slap in it. Tv is a JVC 47" black crystal 120hz JLC47BC3002 that I just got 2 weeks ago.
Can I make this work? Please say yes!!! Any and all help greatly appreciated!
