After reinstalling OS 10.6.8, How can I rename the startup disk? It is now showing Untitled.

Single click the drive icon and press return. This will highlight the text box. Type your new name and press return again Wink

Never start a drive name with a dot. Use a letter.

you just click on untitled and you can put whatever name you want...

I've been using his method
and it works fine in Lion.
