Microsoft has announced the release of SkyDrive for Mac, a new application that allows Lion users to access their cloud storage service. With it, you can drag-and-drop files right into your SkyDrive from the Finder. Your photos, documents and other important files. Users are initially given 7GB worth of free storage with SkyDrive. Plans of 20GB, 50GB and 100GB are also available as paid upgrades, with pricing starting at $10 per year.

| Nice, but I'm waiting for Google Drive. I haven't given up on iCloud either yet. Even though it's mostly being used for syncing contacts, mail and PhotoStream these days. |

| This could end up being a nice one two punch for Microsoft because the Skydrive apps for the iPhone and iPad are really solid. |

Cool, I'll give it a try.
I like how members of this forum, always display a mature attitude and keep an open mind. On most Mac forums members would put more time and effort into slamming Microsoft, rather than trying the service. |

That's great. ...so does that mean OneNote for Mac is next?
That's the one piece of software that keeps me going back to a Windows machine. |

I'm open to checking out the service as well. Plus, I haven't been approved for a Google Drive account. I also like that this puts pressure on Dropbox to offer more free storage and shift their pricing. There are some gaps between the free plan and 50GB plan (@$10 a month) if you ask me. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

It's interesting that Google now has the service as well. It's already been well accepted. Walt Mossberg gave it a good review. |

I'm thrilled that Microsoft and Google are entering the market. Competition is a good thing for the market place and consumers in the long run. I love Dropbox and I'm sure the competition will make it better (increased GB) and hopeful that iCloud will improve as well. That said I don't plan on using either, mainly I don't need all that much more storage space for what I do and Dropbox seems to be pretty much universally integrated in most programs/apps that I need.
I abandoned all things Google a while ago, and I've found most Mac Microsoft products to be missing key elements/features and find that most seem rather half baked these days. _________________ iMac 24" 2.4 GHz 4GB | Logitech S530 | Z-2300 speakers | NewerTech Guardian MAXimus RAID

I agree for the most part. That being said, I haven't abandoned Chrome. I think it's the best browser out there by far. Not to mention the fastest.
I'm excited about Drive as well. Just need an invite from them to get started. |

| I've been using it for a couple days since my last comment. It's really nice. It also integrates nicely with Office and the iOS apps. I don't know how well Google Drive works, but I'm sold. Sometimes Microsoft just surprises you and makes nice stuff. This would be an example in my book. |
