| Just some suggestions on how to set up my system. I have a new mini base model. I have a 2tb firewire external drive. 8gb ram. I want to know what your thoughts are on partitioning the internal 500gb drive for X and windows. Should I use the external for X? Can I use time machine on the startup disk. Please let me know how you would set this up. |

Sounds like you've got a good setup to start with. Setup all depends on what you are doing with it. Think about 250 for OSX and 250 for Windows.
Internal drive is SATA II (3gb/s) on a SATA II (6gb/s) controller. Firewire is 800mb/s so you won't get as good performance. That being said most hard drives won't use 3gb/s.
Time machine was designed to back up the startup disk as most people have no other disks. |

Time Machine will by default, backup all mounted drives unless you specifically exclude them in TM Preferences. _________________ DropBox, free cloud storage for all, check it out Here |
