Okay so I'm having some odd random crashes on my MacBook Pro, it'll be any given time for no apparent reason, not even maxing out the CPU or RAM or overheat it'll just randomly gray screen, first one I didn't think anything of it but now it's doing it every day or two. I don't particularly need the laptop for anything important for now and spring break is in 2 weeks so I may go see an Apple store in the near future.

sounds like the monitors video clip is coming loose or a faulty lcd screen.
Easy test for this run iTunes and play some music hide the iTunes screen leaving it playing.
now try to do the same error again if iTunes stops playing its hardware if the screen goes gray and iTunes is still playing it's the lcd screen |

I've had VLC running when it crashed and it stuttered then stopped the audio.

| ahhh yea vlc will do that if it doesn't like the format or if the audio or video format dials home |

VLC wasn't running every time it crashed though so I'm not sure what it was, however the problems have seemed to have stopped for now.

Strange Very Strange.......
I would remove the current version of vlc you have installed and reinstall the latest version and see what happens if it continues to do it i would recommend spending a little money and having a apple store run a diagnostic on it it will run you about 70 to 80 dollers depending and they could tell you a lot more about what is going on...
when all else fails try apple when apple fails you know your in trouble |
