So, I have the Intel Core Duo Mac Mini Server (the first generation of the shorter, wider format). I'm wondering. I don't use it as a server, just pretty much as a desktop. I'd like to upgrade to Lion, but I see no reason to buy Lion Server. Is it possible to back up the hard drive, zero everything out, and then download Lion as if it were just a standalone, non-server Mini?

I wouldn't see why not!!!!

But i would install server anyways because of the advance e-mail settings that help block junk mail better then the consumer version.
