|
|
I'd like to add an extra hard drive to my 2011 Mac Mini preferably 1TB or more - Can't justify the cost of a SSD - Can anyone give me any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance _________________ 2011 Mac Mini 2.7GHz i7 - 8GB Ram |

BillB - thanks - quick update - I finally decided to get a Crucial 512GBSSD - got a good deal here in the UK - installed it (tight fit with the drive cable) and cloned the drive, enabled Trim!!!! - Goes like brown smelly stuff off a chromium shovel!!! would not have believed the difference!!!!!! 14 or 15 secs from power on to desk top (I have auto login) _________________ 2011 Mac Mini 2.7GHz i7 - 8GB Ram |

Its really astonishing how fast an SSD can be.
Before I bought an SSD I was using two 600GB
10K RPM VelociRaptors in a RAID-0 enclosure
attached via SATA. They were so fast it was
extraordinary, well.........the SSD is noticeably
faster. Its a shame TRIM doesn't work natively
for the Samsung SSD. I'm really lovin' this
Samsung though. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

I had to activate the trim command (wasn't natively activated for the drive I bought) found some instructions for the command line which seemed to work (I'm new to macs so it is still a learning experience) - any SSD is the future (assuming the price comes down!!!!!!) _________________ 2011 Mac Mini 2.7GHz i7 - 8GB Ram |
