I installed Plex on my Apple TV. Under the server settings menu, there is an option to "Tell server to refresh all sections". This is great. All the new movies you've added to your movie folder on your mini now show up under the Apple TV ->Plex -> Movies menu. but...
It's a pain in the butt to always have to go into the AppleTV-Plex-ServerSettings and select this option each time you add a movie to your library.
I did a Google search on this issue, but the info I found was confusing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction.
I'm not on any Plex or AppleTV forums so even a suggestion for a good forum would be helpful.
Thanks
BTW I really like having a jailbroken AppleTV. I used to use a PS3 but this is much nicer. I know a mini is a nice solution but AppleTV is cheap and it really does a nice job, plus it does so many other cool things that a mini does not do. |

You should be able to go into the Plex Media Server preferences and change the parameters for updating your library. I don't have any experience with the Plex client for Apple TV, but it should work. It probably takes a couple hours for them to update otherwise.

My guess is that it isn't going to work. I'll likely have to SSH Into the Apple TV through Terminal on the Mac and add a script that adds code to the Plex app on the AppleTV.
I currently have Plex on the mini set to update my library whenever changes to my folder are detected, which works fine on the mini. I now what that feature to extend over to the AppleTV.
I'll let you know how things go.
Thanks. |

| Please post a follow-up if you get it working. I plan on installing Plex soon, as I'm growing tired of some of the limitations with iTunes and file formats. |

the Plex Media Server should be looking after the lists and updating on the Mini. The AppleTV will be requesting the show and movie listings from PMS on the mini, so as long as the mini has refreshed its listings then they should automatically show up on the AppleTV. Changing menu's on the AppleTV should be enough to get it to refresh, i.e. dropping out of a TV show or movie listing and going back in, this is how it appears to be working on mine anyway. _________________ Phil

I'll give that a try. It's all pretty new to me. Thanks. |
