Hi there,
My new Mac Mini came through the post an hour or so ago and I can't seem to get it to connect to the internet.
This is my first Mac so I'm probably making a basic error somewhere down the line?
I just can't connect to my network. The setting are currently telling me "Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and will not be able to connect to the internet.
What do I do!
Appreciate the help guys |

Do you have a working wifi system, which your other machines can connect to ?
If so have a look in System Preferences - Network
Select the Wifi in the list on the left (Make sure its turned on)
then Click Advanced
Click on the TCP/IP tab
and make sure Configure IPv4 is set to Using DHCP
Let us know what you find.
It could be your Wifi Router has Mac address filtering enabled or your not entering the correct password to allow access.
also when your in System Preferences - Network
and you have WiFi selected, do you see your Network listed in the Network Name drop down. _________________ Phil

And... what manufacturer/model of router do you have? Did you buy it, or was it given to you by your ISP?
Can you (temporarily) connect to the Internet, if you use a wired Ethernet cable between the Mac and the router? _________________ Martin at HeadSpin HD now on Blu-ray |
