|

Today I have the awesome Dell 2209WA 22inch IPS screen.
Recently got a bigger desk so now the screen looks a little small...
Been looking around today for something bigger and think 27 would be the right choice for me.
Have looked at:
Dell U2711, because it's the natural step-up compared to what I already have, newer and bigger but more of the same.
or
Samsung S27A950D, wich is obviously a LOT better looking, just worried if a TN panel of todays standart can match my 3year old 2209WA IPS??
I'm using an Mac Mini Server mid-2010, so if I end up with the Dell U2711, then there should be no worries in utilizing the insane 2560x1440 resolution trough DisplayPort, right?
I'm not into playing games or watching in 3D, but I do care about color quality in stills and picture quality in movies, as Im doing quite a lot of photo work and watch many movies. _________________ :apple: Mac Mini DualCore i7 :: 2.7GHz :: 2x4GB DDR1867 :: 2x Intel520 240GB SSD for total 480GB :: Radeon HD 6630m :: Dell 2209WA :: Razer Mamba 2012 :: Apple Alu wired US keyboard w/ iSkin ProTouch black ::

Your mini supports 2560X1600 through the display port. I see no issues.
Have you considered the Apple Cinema Display? Why or why not? |

I have chosen not to, mostly because it cost around 1/3 more, and I dont really see what I gain from it. _________________ :apple: Mac Mini DualCore i7 :: 2.7GHz :: 2x4GB DDR1867 :: 2x Intel520 240GB SSD for total 480GB :: Radeon HD 6630m :: Dell 2209WA :: Razer Mamba 2012 :: Apple Alu wired US keyboard w/ iSkin ProTouch black :: |

Isn't the Dell even more money? The link shows $1099. |

| Your existing mini does not support the new Apple Thunderbolt display. So this means you would need the previous Apple Cinema display. My guess is there will be a lot of Cinema Displays on the used market because many people want the new TB display. Perhaps you could get a used 27" ACD at a decent price. When the next Mac Pro gets TB even more will enter the used market. |
