|
|
Hi,
I am looking at getting an SSD either Crucial 128GB or 256GB but is worth it to get the 256GB as it costs nearly £300?
Or I was wondering if its worth buying new Mini with SSD?
I currently have late 2009 2.26Ghz with 4GB RAM. Thing is I don't use any CPU intensive tasks, dont play games either so would new Mini be waste? |

honesty is the best policy...
If it works why fix it..
Also i hate to burst your bubble if you don't game why do you need a new mini if you don't need the extra processing power then why upgrade.
Also do you have a thunderbolt display??? or the thunderbolt display adapter another item you are going to be needing. |

if you buy a 2011 mac mini you can't run snow leopard better then half speed. so buying a new mac mini means learning lion. I would advise you to at least play with some lion osx to see if you like it. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

Hi Philip! I hated Lion (before it came out).
Now that I'm running it on a MacBook Air
I for the most part am very pleased with
the Air as well as Lion. I miss a few things
from Snow Leopard but overall, if you don't
need Rosetta then its an improvement.
My vote goes to Lion. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

I'd recommend to upgrade an SSD to your Mac Mini. I just recently upgraded my 2009 Mac Mini with 120 GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD and the improvement in performance and particularly application loading times is very significant.
I have also posted a guide on the steps I did to upgrade the SSD to my Mac Mini here: http://mymediaexperience.com/how-to-speed-up-mac-mini-with-ssd-hard-drive/ _________________ Best HTPC Guide to Build Your HTPC Media Experience |

| After what I've heard, the SSD's that Apple put in their computers, are not superfast. So if you have the skills to swap the drive yourself, that's the road I would go. |
