I'm most impressed with the new music app for the iPad. It's a nice improvement over the previous "iPod" version. This alone is a reason to upgrade. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

| Wow, is the download taking forever - and yet I'm dumb enough to sit here and wait. I'm still waiting in the iPhone - about 16 minutes to go. The iPad downloaded, but it failed to install properly, so now I'm left with a factory reset iPad that the computer can't read; I suppose I'll figure it out. |

Android really handles notifications the same way. You just swipe a menu down from the top. The layout is a little different, but you basically get to them in the same way. I just think Apple sort of copied it. I have no complaints though. It's the best way to get to them. Where Apple differs with them and takes the lead is with notifications on the lock screen. Swiping across takes you right to the app to take action. Does that make any sense? |

| Gestures so far is by far my favorite. I hated that home button. |

Gotcha. I have an android for a couple more days, until the iPhone finally comes to Sprint. I know what you're referring to, just didn't know what you meant when you said it. _________________ Mercury TiBook 400MHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Airport

I'm exactly the opposite, it seems completely geared up to Music and nothing else. Its even called Music now.
As I mainly use it for podcasts I find it horrible. It defaults to Music and podcast are hidden away in the More menu. It only shows album art view, where are the lists, where is the sidebar. I have a gorgeous wide iPad screen when in landscape mode and I'm left trying to read truncated titles in a little pop up window with hardly any info to go off as to what the show is about. Lots of wasted screen space that could be much better utilised.
With the recent changes in Lion, grey drab icons, and now iOS 5 changes. I'm starting to wonder if Apple have actually sacked all of their UI team and decided to do the exact opposite of what their own Human Interface Guidelines have suggested for years _________________ Phil

I'm not all that excited with the new Music app for the iPad either. It looks so plain and those wooden type bars going down the side look very cheesy. The progress indicator in orange looks off too. It's like they tried to go retro or something. I just liked the older version better.
The new iTunes Movie Trailers app from Apple is awesome though. It looks gorgeous and works well. I also love the calendar timeline for seeing when movies come out. |

| I'm really liking the new update. I do wish we had two finger gestures in safari to swipe forward or back a page. That would complete the flow. Plus they need to make bookmarks more organized like the Mac way. Something thats' easier for the eye to comprehend. I dread even looking at bookmarks with the iOS safari. One other improvement that would be amazing. How about having the apple remote to work with these TV and Movie apps. That would be great. I use my iPad as a second tv for my Bedroom. Sometimes I would just like to turn it off without getting up. |

Well I enabled iCloud I barely checked it out, but the bookmark thing is much better because it sent my more organized bookmarked webpages to my iPad. I like that. I still don't see no photo's in my photo stream though. I hope I do soon I don't see any network activity so I may have done something wrong.
EDIT: OK just turned it on in iPhoto. Duh.
Ok just uploaded some photos. Not for me. Way to slow and it will bog my network down big time because I take a good hundred photos at a time. I could keep it off then upload what I want later. I will have to. The best thing is iTunes iCloud which you don't need to even sign up for iCloud. I wish you could just sync/ stream an app to your device from your computer wirelessly instead of going to the "cloud" and having to redownload. That's nice if your not near your computer, but if you are it would be a lot faster. APP STREAM
EDIT: OK I set up wifi sync I didn't even know that was an option. So that seems pretty cool from my desktop. But I can't manually pick and choose from iPad unless I am missing something. Maybe I need to restart it. Still cool just not exactly what I was hoping for. |
