Apple has released the Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.3 via their Software Update Utility and website for direct download. According to the company, this update includes fixes that enhance the stability of Lion Recovery from an Internet connection, and resolve issues with Apple Thunderbolt Display compatibility and Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode performance on Mac Mini (mid 2011) models. After this update has successfully completed, your Boot ROM Version will be: MM51.88Z.0077.B0A.1109091226. The Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.3 weighs in at 4.26MB and requires Mac OS X 10.7 or later.

No problems with the update. I really only updated for the Lion Recovery issue though. Just in case something goes wrong or something. I don't really care about Thunderbolt anymore. The technology rocks, but I don't see anything beyond the Thunderbolt display being a practical buy at this point. I was so hoping for some super fast externals at a decent price by this point. |

Just saw a bunch of new TB stuff on Engadget. Intel is getting behind it for Windows, so the flood gates might be opening soon. They even showed a couple external drives and adapters from Seagate. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

| I don't have a single TB device, but updated anyways. Mostly for the improvements in Lion recovery like mentioned before. I always get scared with Firmware updates though. The fan inside my 2006 Intel Mac mini went crazy. Apple had to go so far as to replace the logicboard to fix it. |

I just applied the firmware update and now all my Mini does is blast the fan at maximum RPM.
I'm not impressed. |
