|
|
Hello,
This is my first post.
I just purchased a 1.66 ghz mac mini on ebay for $200.00 to use as my htpc. After reading some posts here I decided I will upgrade the mini once I get it.
My question is, is there any difference in cpus for the upgrade? I plan on purchasing a t7600, the max from what I have read.
I just want to make sure I get the right one.
Thanks! |

The CPUs come in two types. BGA, or Ball Grid Array, and PGA, or Pin Grid Array.
You want the PGA one, or a BGA one that has been converted to PGA.
For the T7600 the PGA part would be the SL9SD.

Thanks SC!
Do you happen to know if I can flash the firmware to accept ram > 2gb? If so, where might I find the DIY.
Thanks again! |

Yes, but you should make sure both of the memory sockets are working before spending the money on two 2 GB sticks.
