Mac Mini Rides: Jeepintosh
Friday December 30, 2005
iJeep2005 has posted some pictures on Flickr of his Mac mini installed into a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. His setup includes a 1.5GHz Mac mini, Xenarc 700 TSV, BU-353 USB GPS, Carnetix P1900 with P5V adapter, Griffin RadioShark USB, Griffin PowerMate, Bluetooth Keyboard, and 2 Hubs. "The Xenarc screen is mounted in the dash with vinyl to match the grey interior. Below the heat/air controls is a small Kensington USB hub with a PowerMate connected to it 24/7. The PowerMate controls iTunes quite well. I'm very happy with the way the screen mount turned out." He is using a Treo 650 with Salling Clicker for a remote control and Bluetooth DUN for Internet access.
Audio is pumped through a pair of JLAudio 10W3 speakers that are mounted in a custom box. The box is covered in vinyl and has an embossed Apple logo in the center. He also mounted a rear-facing Pioneer ND-BC1 camera near the license plate, which is viewable on the Xenarc display. You definitely need to go check this setup out!

That Xenarc Touchscreen has me drooling. I really want to do something like this to my car. And it finally looks like the prices on all the materials needed to do so are lining up. _________________ Me with Woz!

I couldn't help but giggle at the implications of crashing your iJeep. Do you close all the windows and restart? |

| The display looks like it was factory installed. I wish I had the skills to do something like that. |
