For those that do not know MUGEN it is a highly customizable fighting game engine originally made for creating original content, yet because of emulating abilities people have literally "imported" characters from relatively all known- 2D fighting games. You can add as much characters, and fighting backgrounds as you want, music whatever, just search for mugen on youtube for examples.

Because characters are ripped by different people, they may be weaker or stronger than other characters, some even downright godly and overpowered, but the beauty of it is the customizability. It is possible to create your own "balanced" mugen, since all content can be edited even downloaded characters. So thats pretty much what MUGEN is.

So this guy called "pleasantdesigns" made a really stable port of a popular "variation" of MUGEN called "Everything vs Everything" which has a total of 500 characters from street fighter, mortal kombat... hence... the title.

To download you have to contact the guy: http://www.youtube.com/user/PLEASANTDesigns

And ask him for the password for the program hosted at 4shared here:

I am still downloading the game, so when I do I will review the performance on the mac mini.

No offense here but what you have posted here is illegal..

Sorry Mugen is a illegal fighting game engine it uses peoples faces and likenesses without paying for them.

if it has to be hosted on 4 shared most likely it's illegal because 4shared and rapidshare and megaupload all do this.

You should def. look into things a bit before saying MUGEN itself is illegal, MUGEN is an engine, and its code created from scratch by Elecbyte therefore NOT illegal.

Now you could say the the characters made by the users are illegal, and you would be right, except that companies that own the character's rights (capcom, snk, midway) do not feel threatened by this, SNK even sees MUGEN modifications as a fan game. Also the game is distributed for free and it does not compete with fighting games currently released (KOF XIII, street fighter IV, the last mortal kombat).

TL;DR: If the companies THEMSELVES don't give a damn about the "legality of MUGEN" as you call it , why should you play internet white knight?

PS: This guy took the time to port this engine for the mac by himself, I personally think he made people a favor by releasing it for everyone that wants it.

EDIT: YEEAAAAH.... CAPCOM REALLY FEELS THREATENED BY THIS! [OMGSARCASM!]

Wow, not much action in the mac mini gaming section huh? Well to update things a bit on Mugen I was not able to download the whole game (2 gigs) due to my slow and unreliable connection, but I contacted the porter (Der Kunstler-PleasantDesigns) and asked him for a "barebones" version of the engine, and he did upload such version into this link:

http://www.4shared.com/file/YvS34APJ/Mugen_EVE_starer_pack.html

As I said before it is the engine without the characters and stages (there is some small tweaking however, as the porter forgot to take out the characters from the select.def file, if you know Mugen you will know what I mean).

This is great as you get the game and you start putting whatever characters/stages you want (this characters are all over the web and most are from other games but others are completely original, or like I said before, you can make YOUR own).

I am glad to say that the game works perfect on the Mac Mini 2.4ghz, if you want to use controllers you have to get USB Overdrive and map the gamepad to keyboard buttons (there is no other way as of yet), but I mapped two controllers and they work great. Stability might depend on the characters and stages you download (keep in mind that there are many versions of mugen besides the version on which this port is made, some characters will cause errors, some characters will not appear on the select menu but most characters will play fine, this version is highly compatible, same with stages) I noticed the mac mini will get hot during play (maybe this will get better with more ram, sorry I am not the technical type), but I guess this is normal on the 2.4 Unibody.

I highly recommend this, besides being a game it can also be a hobby, and it is great for playing with friends.
