I noticed that my standard combo of VLC and Handbrake is no longer working on my 2011 Mac, running Lion. I am using the 64 bit version of each, but it keeps freezing mid-title in the scanning process and won't go any further. Does anyone have a solution to this, or am I out of luck? I like to rip my personal DVD's and convert them to MP4 files so I can watch them on my Droid X. I'm looking at freeware, unless there is a relatively inexpensive paying alternative. I think the freezing has something to do with copyright issues on the disk, and for some reason Handbrake/VLC isn't getting over the hump.
