I'm using Parallels 6 (with latest updates) on the new MacBook Air, with Lion installed. Overall, Windows 7 and everything installed runs well, except for Microsoft's Expression Suite. It opens, and allows me to get work done; however, it has a red look to it, making it hard to find menu options, and simply not visually appealing.
I've tried two virtual machines, a Windows 7 Enterprise one, that already had Expression Studio installed, and a brand new one I created today with Windows 7 Pro and a completely new (different license) of Expression. Both versions of Windows are 64-bit. ...what makes this hard to figure out is that Expression Studio did work well under Snow Leopard, and what's even stranger is that EVERYTHING, from Office 2010 to Visual Studio, work well, but Expression Studio does not.
For details, I've included some screen shots. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, it be greatly appreciated. ...if you have experienced this, please let me know, so that I know I'm not going crazy and stop blaming my Air thinking that the graphics processor is defective. Thanks in advance!!

Hi everyone. I opened a ticket with Parallels, and they helped resolve this. If anyone experiences the same issue, you may do this...
1. Start the Virtual Machine and click on virtual Machine on the top menu bar and in the drop down menu choose Configure
2. On the configuration window click on the Hardware tab.
3. Click on Video and un-check both the options "Enable 3D acceleration" and "Enable vertical synchronization"
4. Click on Advanced option and un-check Time Synchronization.
5. Click OK and start the Windows Virtual machine.
Just FYI, I tried running the virtual machine in VMware Fusion before the fix, and it did the same thing where Expression appeared red.
I'm just happy I can use Expression Studio again!! |
