Apple has released the AirPort Utility 5.5.3 for Mac and Windows via their Software Update Utility and website for direct download. According to the company, this update resolves an issue that caused the AirPort Utility to unexpectedly quit during setup. The Mac version of the update weighs in at 10.8MB and requires OS X 10.5.7 or later, while the Windows version weighs in at 10.1MB and requires a minimum of Windows 7 SP1, Vista SP2, or XP SP3.

If Apple released AirPort Utility as an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch app, many people would not need to bring a laptop while traveling with an Airport Express any more...
Of course, an even better fix would be to make the Airport Express configurable via web interface like most other router/access points...
Right now we travel with an Airport Express to turn out hotel's wired connection into a local Wi-Fi hot spot - but frequently there are strange settings at the hotels so we bring a laptop to re-config the Express to match the hotel LAN settings. _________________ Apple Mac Mini dual 1.83GHz, 1GB, 160GB +1TB iSCSI network drive, SuperDrive, Edirol UA-1EX, Onkyo M-508, AR-P315 speakers

That would be the best. Then you could connect from any device. I like my TM, but really hate using the utility. |
