Replacement for Front Row, keeping my metadata?

Front row enabler works if your reading videos not in iTunes i have confirmed mac os x lion 10.7.2 beta doesn't disable this patch but the iTunes library doesn't function because of a change in iTunes library

Well I've been really playing around with Boxee, Plex and XMBC. So far I've ruled out Boxee, as it wasn't flexible and found the attitude of the moderators and developers to leave a lot to be desired. Plex was ok, but just couldn't get the right fit, but may give it another whirl. However, so far I've been able to get XMBC with the default theme to work very well.

Part of the challenge was renaming the movies and TV shows using the naming convention that worked for them.

Now I've got question and could use some advice. Right now I have our mini on our main tv, running itunes to keep the ATV1 in the bedroom loaded with shows and to share music with the kids computers. My Mac I use for ripping and maintaining a backup. I think I can uncheck some options in iTunes so that it does not move and/or rename the files. However will this work with sharing with the other system? Once I do that I don't see how I can cause iTunes to "scrape" for new content like the other programs do.

Any advice from those that have done this?
