NEED HELP ON A TV CHOICE SONY SMART TV OR SAMSUNG?

Okay my beast first gen 1080i 32 inch crt tv died about 8 am east coast time. Weighs a few hundred pounds got it at walmart 8 years ago. It was showing signs of age due to heat main symptom was same yellowing as an iMac. So my wife and I have looked at tvs. This is my HT tv and it is hooked up to a 2009 mac mini. But I am thinking if I get a sony smart tv I can use it without the mini then move the mini into my bedroom and hook it up to our 26 inch sharp tv.

My question is does anyone have a smart tv a sony or a samsung? if so how are they for browsing, netflix. I looked at this sony at best buy last sunday

AFTER Reading both sites for a long time it appears sony is the only one with a true browser Chrome also sony has a full key board as the remote.

I am looking to beat amazon's price of 1200 delivered.

best buy charges tax so they would be 1284.

Also If I use my amazon credit card I get 3% back so it would be 1167. I may order today. If I do I will let you know how it works with and how it works without the mini.

no keyboard remote 1218 vs 1200 but you need two other parts another 135 so almost 1400 vs 1200

. I am pulling the trigger on the sony. has an intel atom cpu in it. I wonder if i could upgrade it in a few years?

Although I'm in the UK, I'm planning on an LG Smart TV with the plex client in. I'll have a plex 'server' in another room.

This will allow me to move the mini upstairs. Not sure what to do about the AppleTV then - it'd be good for Airplay but thats about it.

Anyway, the LG's look very interesting. My decision is now is 3D or not. I'm not a 3D fan but don't want to spend so much on a set and it become outdated if 3D takes off.

well I got the sony coming this monday. I see how this works out. 1199 with free shipping no tax and 3 % off in credit card points. so about 1165 usd. a 46 inch. will give me google chrome as a browser. netflix built in that is big for me. I can move the mini to my bedroom tv. I also think I may be able to use this with my ASUS 1215b netbook to record a tv show. IF You (Jowl) get the LG let us know how it works out for you.

It arrived setup was easy. surfs pretty well. so far I don't like the track ball. this machine has potential. I post back on it every once in a while!

Figured out why it tracked the curser badly. Need to keep the alt button pressed with left thumb then use right thumb to move the curser. It works pretty nice now. This machine has an intel atom cpu in it.

Sony's first attempt at a tv/computer rather then a computer / tv . The good it is all in one nice tv fits my space perfectly. The bad since it is a tv first the computer end is a bit weak. The good it is very easy for me to surf the net. Netflix has a better picture then the mini did. Chrome is the only browser. I always like chrome so it is not a problem.

This unit is very nice for those looking to dump cable. I would say buy the 40 inch at 799 vs the 46 inch at 1199.

There is huge potential in this area.

A large tv screen with a computer built-in. I am thinking some kind of docking setup. An iPhone into a slot. A samsung galaxy into a slot.

this machine really always nice surfing and tv watching at the same time.
