Hello, All...
I got a new Mac Mini Server given (Gasp!) to me, I'm not so sure what the advantages are...
My internet comes through the telephone line, to a router which has a line to an old homebuilt Windows PC, which is off most of the time.
I already have a Mac Mini (2.53ghz), which wirelessly connects to the router, and is used for HTPC. Also have Mac notebooks and a Kindle, which all recognize the router...
My question is, does the Server need a direct connection to the router, or is wireless good enough? What does the Server do that the 2.53ghz doesn't?
Obviously new at this server bit... Any advice would be most appreciated.

Wired is more reliable, faster and more secure than WiFi, but either will work to connect your new mini server to your LAN.
Wired is, however, obviously, less convenient, unless your server is close to your router. If it IS close: there's no contest - wired all the way!
The server can take two SATA HDs and no optical drive, and runs OSX/Server-version OS, as opposed to "normal" OSX. _________________ Martin at HeadSpin HD now on Blu-ray |
