Apple Holding Special Media Event on March 2nd
Wednesday, February 23, 2011
Posted by: Kenan
Apple sent out invitations today for a special media event to be held on March 2nd. The event will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10:00 am in the morning. This is the same venue Apple has used to introduce a number of products in recent years. The invitations for this event simply read, "Come see what 2011 will be the year of." It also features an iPad in the graphics, suggesting that Apple will be introducing the next-generation iPad at this event.

I can't wait to see and buy the new iPad. This time I'm going with a 3G model too. I always regretted only getting the wi-fi model the first time around. I guess the wife can have this one as a hand-me-down. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I'm very excited about the update to the iPad. To me this category is far more exciting than the smart phone category. At first I thought the tablet market was going to be a joke, but this past year has proved me wrong.
I don't own an iPad, but I have went into Best Buy 4X just to play around with one. No other product on the planet could have got me to do that. The only reason I don't own one is because I can not afford one right now.
It will be interesting to see Apple take the iPad to the next level, while competitors are struggling to come of with something comparable to the first gen iPad. This should be an interesting year for Apple. |

I'm more interested in the software side of things. Like if there will be changes to iOS for the iPad. Minor changes (like cameras and faster processors) to the hardware won’t get me that excited. I’m sure it will look sexier though. That's just the way Apple works. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

Mixed feelings, I've had the iPad1 3G for a year and love it, but would be tempted to go WIfi only next, with all the new choices for tethering and hotspots, and more wifi out there.
G2 has pretty basic upgrades IMO over the G1 from what is written. Rumors of a much higher res G3 coming sooner than a normal cycle would make me hesitate to go from my G1 to a G2. hmm. |

I'm happy with the iPad 1, I'm not sure there is anything else I need from the iPad. I'm happy with it's speed, it's memory, storage etc it's 3G and Wifi work well. I'd like a camera and I know the iPAd 2 will have one (or two) for Face time but I don't think that is a good enough reason for me to upgrade yet. _________________ Phil
