Mini Dock for Mac Mini Update
Friday December 9, 2005
We wrote an article back in June about the mini dock automotive docking station for the Mac mini. Today, we received word out of Japan that Mini Dock has begun shipping the dock to costumers in the United States and launched an English version of their website. The translation from Japanese to English is still a little rough, but you definitely get a better idea of how this product works. The mini dock comes in two packages. The mini dock All-in-one pack (US $1050) includes the mini dock, 8" LCD touch screen display, cables, and USB hub. The mini dock DIY Kit (US $500) only includes the mini dock itself. Mini Dock also added some great pictures of the dock in the installation and assembly section of their website.

I wouldn't mind having the dock to hold in the power cable. Mine is getting really loose. |

| That is the most beautiful Janglish I have seen in a long time. I once got a package labelled "Please keep tapes in a proper ambient. Do not make dust or wrinkle on them." But a crowded Macmini with a cable fixation unit sounds positively sinful by comparison with a proper ambient! |

That phrase always seems to come up. The word "soil" is used a lot too. |

I'm impressed with this bit of text:
"Though that information enters when an over there in-vehicle kit of the sea is sold, important products does not come out at all.
I made up its mind , "Make it by myself !" and talked with friend from old times to run an import car sale company, Mr. Nanbara, and this plan started."
I must hasten to add that their English is much, much better than my Japanese.
This brings to mind an old favorite joke which I feel entitled to tell here as the preceeding bits of this post were vaguely almost nearly on topic:
Q: What do you call a person that speaks 3 languages?
A: Trilingual
Q: What do you call a person that speaks 2 languages?
A: Bilingual
Q: What do you call a person that speaks 1 language?
A: American _________________ http://skeptichosting.com/

That lever thingy for pushing the power button is pretty clever. _________________ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro/4GB/320GB HD

people have been using very similar devices for a while now, it's pretty much just the shutter switch extender from a camera. You use it to click the button on a camera without vibrating the camera at all. To be honest, I think it's a bit sloppy that it sticks out so far.
My feeling is that this is a good idea, but that the design is very similar to a pc design, not a mac design. If some one with any designing sense got a hold of this it could end up pretty cool. _________________ 1.42 | 1GB | 80GB

Yea, it does stick out a little too much. The same can be said for the handle. It's still an interesting concept. I wonder what holds the Mac mini to the back of the dock? I hope it's more than just the cables and thumbscrews on the DVI cable. _________________ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro/4GB/320GB HD
