|
|
Hi. i have read numerous info about Snow leopard and running in 64Bit kernel mode. either via "6" + "4" when booting or via the boot.plist.
but its unclear wether the system is running in full 64Bit mode as from the conflicting articles i have read only the Xserve models are capable of running in 64 Bit mode only.
can anyone clarify this? or have any better understanding. would be much appreciated.
Im awaiting my mini from apple as we speak!
~I ask as im wondering wether an 8GB ram upgrade is worth it or not due to the 32bit ram restriction...
Thanks Evo. |

Don't worry about 64 vs. 32 bit kernels. Right now it is really a non-issue in Apple world. Even older OSX kernels which only run in 32 bit mode can natively support more than 4GBytes of memory and 64 bit applications. A 64 bit OSX kernel is not supposed to help much until you get a whole lot more than 8 GBytes of RAM.
Bottom line: There is no 32 bit RAM restriction as Apple solved the problem long ago. That is a Windows issue. |
