iPhoto '11 questions and configurations..

iPhoto '11 is driving me batty!!! I'm new to it but I can say for certain that it is not user friendly. Let just start with a couple of pressing questions, without getting into anything else.

1) When you have pictures in iphoto, it automatically puts them into "events" whether I want to or not... they are labeled as "untitled event". How do I go about title-ing them ?

2) I wan to cut and paste pictures into a file or folder from "photos"... but when I do that they actually stay in "photos" too. Isn't it possible to eleminate them from the "photos" section (don't need the redundancy taking up the space).
