any adapter thats works would be costly. think 100 or 200 bucks
you have a 1.83 or a 2.0 macmini. model 2.1 is not all the info needed. a 2.0ghz with 3gb ram is a lot more powerful then a 1.83ghz with 2gb ram.
to do component you need electronic conversion not just an adapter. there was gear around in 2007 2008 but it was not low cost.
also let me know what tv you want to hook up to. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

i have a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
i currently have it hooked up to a sony HDTV (not sure of model) via DVI to HDMI cable...
but i want to be able to connect it to a RCA (older DirectTV HDTV) with only component cable input, S-Video and standard RCA inputs (no pun intended)...
may just be the catalyst needed to purchase a new flat screen.
thanks...

this worked with osx 10.4 and maybe osx 10.5. I have no idea if it will work with osx 10.6 _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

I believe you can go DVI-I to S-Video or composite. They make DVI-I to component cables for $5 but they do not work with the GMA950. There are special DVI-I to component adapters for ATI video cards which won't help in your case either. You might be able to go DVI to VGA then VGA to Component. It depends on how "Frankenstein" you are willing to go. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

You have to use the video input thats connected to the RCA/3.5 audio input.
My Samsung has audio input for HDMI/DVI input 1 ONLY & VGA
Check your TVs manual, maybe your using the wrong HDMI input.
FWIW, Im not a big fan of Sony. Your not going to get the best HTPC sound from your HDTV You will need some kind of receiver (A/V) Or Computer speakers.
Just my 2ยข
