|
|
I'm experiencing a strange issue when viewing another student's powerpoint presentations on my computer (which uses Office 2008 for Mac). The files in question were created on a laptop using Windows Office 2007. The files are in .pptx format which is fine as my Mac version of Office creates and reads the same.
When I open the file, the slides only fill up about half the frame. As you can see by the attached screenshot there is a huge gray empty space around the slide. I have to click on the black portion of the slide (the view then reads "70%") then go to my "view" settings in PowerPoint and change the view from "70%" to "Fit" (as in "to fit screen").
This issue also occurs in Apple's "Keynote" presentation software.
I don't have this problem when viewing anyone else's PowerPoint files so I am pretty sure that this is not a Mac-Windows incompatibility issue.
Any ideas as to why this is happening would be most welcome. I suspect it's a setting on their end.
OK, I HAVE A PARTIAL FIX (ON MY END)
Since the file has "open" permissions:
I opened it, adjusted the view settings as I described above, then added a blank slide at the end (probably not necessary) then i SAVED THE FILE. It now opens normally. I won't see the person who created this file until later this week but I will take a look at their Powerpoint settings when I see them. |

Will it open okay if you save the original .pptx file in .ppt format? Just curious to know. _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

Yes. I did that, too. |
